JOB DESCRIPTION: PART-TIME INSTRUCTOR FOR URBAN SUSTAINABILITY COURSE

The Urban Studies Program at the University of Pittsburgh seeks a qualified instructor to teach one section of “Urban Sustainability” during the Spring 2023 semester. This undergraduate course focuses on the urban dimensions of sustainability, including the evolution and contemporary understanding of urban sustainability as an academic and practical approach. The qualified applicant should be familiar with the UN’s Millennium Development Goals, New Urbanism, and indicator schemes for evaluating sustainability in urban environments. Instructors should also be capable of training students to distinguish between urban approaches to enhancing sustainability. The minimum requirements are a Master’s degree or higher in Urban Studies, geography, or a cognate field, familiarity with the practice and theory of urban sustainability, and demonstrated excellence in undergraduate-level instruction.

The Urban Studies Program at the University of Pittsburgh seeks a qualified instructor to teach one section of “Introduction to Urban Theory” during the Spring 2023 semester. This undergraduate course focuses on the conceptual foundations of Urban Studies as a field of scholarship. The qualified applicant should be familiar with the philosophical traditions of Urban Studies and be capable of training students to distinguish between theoretical approaches. hold a Master’s degree or higher in Urban Studies, geography, or a cognate field, be familiar with the practice and theory of urban studies, and must be capable of demonstrating excellence in undergraduate-level instruction.
