Pitt's Urban Studies Program lets you explore the fascinating complexities of urban environments in the U.S. and internationally. The concepts and skills you will master through our degrees will help you to address the complex problems associated with urban change (urbanization), and to appreciate the experiences of urban residents (urbanism). Bring your interests in housing affordability, transportation planning, business administration, or public health to understand how urban areas shape these problems. You can gain two Majors and one Transcript Distinction through the Urban Studies Program:
The BA in Urban Studies provides an interdisciplinary degree experience for students interested in the patterns, processes, and methods associated with the study of urbanization and urbanism
The BS in Urban Planning and Geographic Analysis provides a focused degree experience for students who are interested in careers and/or future training in urban planning or geographic analysis
The Transcript Distinction in Civic Learning recognizes students for their classwork and outside-the-classroom activities related to civic learning and community engagement
